Mission Trip Report...

We arrived home safely and exhausted early Friday morning from our awesome trip to the Dominican Republic. Our eyes were open to so many sights of desperation and poverty and at the same time to the amazing work that God is doing in the world and the joy He brings to those who seek Him. We were stretched beyond our comfort zone (and what one thought was their physical capability) and were blessed by the smiles and joy on the faces of the people we served and the vision of what God is doing in the Bateys. It was so moving to do God's work. The last several days we've both been processing the things we saw, felt, did, our interaction with the people, and the way God has moved in our hearts. It's hard to capture it all, but here are some of the verses that have stuck out to us after returning from the trip and what we've been able to experience:

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:40

"He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done." Proverbs 19:17

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Philippians 4:4

Here is a video GO Ministries has put together of our trip:

There was such indescribable joy on the faces of ppl when they worshiped, that by worldly standards have nothing to be joyful about. We are God's hands and feet and we have been blessed and made rich by the resources God has given us. It's with those resources and riches that we are called to reach and serve those in need; they're God's children too.

A quick snapshot of the week included:
-Constructing a feeding center in which Pastor Fransisco will, once completed, asses the neediest 50 children in the Batey to provide one substantial meal a day, 6 days a week.
-This construction involved tieing a lot of rebar, moving 800 cinder blocks, shoveling sand and gravel to mix concrete, and then of course hauling it.
-Feeding children in Batey Nueve a nearby town in a feeding center
-Church services
-Playing with the kids

We'll post some of our pictures later! ~God Bless~
